National Alumni & Friends, Inc.
We are the graduates and friends – parents and community of these two schools who benefited from its richness, resources, and spirit that held up the sky and created portals to a new era, new days, and opportunity through segregation and Jim Crow; through the Civil Rights and Black Power struggle. We are the believers ” home grown” in a sacred and nurturing place that lives forever in our hearts.

We are organizing and working diligently to preserve the legacy of the school and to build a voice about and for its future. We need Alumni, parents, and friends to join us in this challenge. $10M in Surtax funds have been designated for use in transforming the school. How these funds will be spent and the end product continues to be up in the air. Join us in helping form the future of the school.
We are ready to serve the mission of preserving the legacy and honoring the worth of our high schools in both history and for the future. We ask you to join us.
These activities will mark a day of celebration for all alumni and the entire community. This marks the beginning of the restoration of the legacy and future of this institution and its place in the community. When completed, it will stand once again as a signal, a new forward built upon the foundational importance of all of the history and traditional importance of the past and as continuing as a bulwark of community aspiration and pride.
